Youth Restorative Justice

 

The Mural Arts Program works with adjudicated youth at detention centers and residential programs for court placed youth as well as with youth in home detention and on probation. We offer programming that: focuses on self-expression, artistic engagement, teamwork skills, and concern for others; increases community safety and cohesion by assisting in the rehabilitation of first-time youth offenders; improves education opportunities for Philadelphia students; and holds juvenile offenders accountable for their behavior by providing venues and opportunities to engage in community restoration projects while earning community service hours ordered by the court. Mural Arts offers art instruction and community service work, including workshops from visiting artists and poets and opportunities for involvement in major mural projects throughout the city.
