Mural Arts Workshop Hub

Join us for a series of workshops celebrating Mural Arts Month at LOVE Park.

As part of Mural Arts Month, Mural Arts will transform a retrofitted shipping container on the northwest side of LOVE Park into an Artist Workshop Hub. Every Saturday in October from 1 to 3 pm, the space will host a series of dynamic, interactive workshops open to the public.

September 28, 1–3 pm

Clay Sculptures with Ben Peterson, The Pottery Gym

Get your hands dirty with some air-dry clay and make a miniature sculpture with Ben Peterson from The Pottery Gym. First, participants will use wire pipe cleaners to make armatures, like skeletons, for their sculptures. Next, the clay goes on top of the armature, and the wires help to hold the clay in place until it dries. After sculpting the clay, we’ll add textures and details with available tools and materials and package your sculpture for the trip home!

October 5, 1–3 pm

Poster Printmaking with Belle Handler, Philly Soapbox

Letterpress printmaking adds bold and expressive words to paper projects. Learn to use a small printing press to create a poster using prepared text and images. Add your own creativity and handwritten charm to the print using markers. Join Belle Handler from Philly Soapbox to learn a new printmaking technique and create a poster inspired by the start of October!

October is here—bringing with it a month of celebration, expression, and education! With only a few months left in the year, it’s the perfect time to pause, recharge, and tap into your creative side. Life moves fast, but art helps us slow down, reflect, and express what words cannot.

Join Andre Chaney for a vibrant and interactive illustration event. Whether you pick up a pencil for the first time or are a seasoned artist, this event will inspire you to slow down, unleash your creativity, and finish the year on a colorful note!

Fall Fun:  Storytime and Crafts with The Free Library of Philadelphia

As part of Mural Arts Month, the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Children’s Department is leading a fall storytime and crafts workshop! Embrace the cozy spirit of autumn as we gather for enchanting tales celebrating the season, followed by hands-on crafting activities that will spark your child’s creativity. This interactive workshop is perfect for children of all ages and their families.
