The Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts invite teachers for a professional development workshop that uncovers the Philadelphia monuments of the past and questions what makes a monument in the 21st century. As the central hub for Monument Lab, PAFA invites educators to visit HSP, to explore the city on a walking tour, and to workshop ideas with other teachers for classroom projects that encourage civic engagement and student leadership.

The morning session takes place at HSP (1300 Locust Street), followed by a walking tour to PAFA, a lunch break, and an afternoon seassion at PAFA (118 North Broad Street). Participating teachers will receive Act 48 credit and ready-made lesson plans to take back to their classrooms. Please register on PAFA’s website.
