Celebrate a new mural by artist Danny Torres, at Julia de Burgos Elementary School! Latinx Heroes brings the legacies of visionary Latinx cultural and community leaders to life, depicting and honoring the Latin Fiesta Pioneer Awardees, as well as Puerto Rican poet-activist Julia de Burgos—the elementary school’s namesake. The project embraces the neighborhood’s cultural heritage through the school’s mission to enhance literacy and civic engagement. Latinx Heroes is a welcoming place for a new generation to learn and grow, dedicated to coincide with the new school year.
