Continuum at Northeast Services Hub

Celebrate the dedication of the new Northeast Services Hub mural, Continuum. Artist LaToya Peoples grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and wanted to start the design process of this mural by returning to the area’s historical roots. The Lenape beadwork pattern on the left represents the original inhabitants and stewards of the region. The three creeks that meet near the site – the Pennypack, the Tacony, and the Wissinoming – are home to the various native flowers shown throughout the mural. In the middle, she depicts the construction boom of the 1950s – row homes that we recognize in the neighborhood today, housing the families and businesses that weave together with the community’s past and future. The various faces depict the diversity of the region, looking together toward a shared goal of a thriving community. Here is the rendering.
