#ENDTHEEXCEPTION MURAL DEDICATION

Abolish Slavery National Network (ASNN), End Slavery NJ, #EndTheException, Worth Rises, and Mural Arts Philadelphia will dedicate a new mural on Friday, November 22 from 6PM – 7:30 PM in Jersey City’s Historic Downtown. The mural, entitled “End Slavery in New Jersey”, was designed and painted by artist MUSTART. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery except for those convicted of a crime. For too long those who are incarcerated have earned little to nothing for their labor in New Jersey, constructing roads, building furniture, and maintaining the prisons themselves. The partnering organizations envisioned a mural that would reflect this complicated history and present struggle for liberation within the context of one of Jersey City’s most vibrant districts.
