Live at Love

Join us for a special edition of Live at Love this June as we celebrate Black Music Month, also known as African American Music Appreciation Month. This vibrant event series, held in the heart of Philadelphia at Love Park, will honor the immense contributions of African American musicians, with performances from local artists shaping American culture through their artistry and innovation, such as Jonill, Jada Lee, and more. This event is curated by Medina Oyefusi and hosted by 100.3 WRNB’ Queen Yaszy B.

What is Black Music Month?
Black Music Month, celebrated in June, was established to recognize and celebrate the significant impact of African American music on the cultural landscape of the United States. Created by Kenny Gamble, Dyana Williams, and Ed Wright, the first Black Music Month celebration took place on the White House Lawn in 1979, hosted by President Jimmy Carter. In 2000, President Bill Clinton officially recognized June as Black Music Month with a presidential proclamation, and the U.S. House of Representatives affirmed this designation the same year.
