Our Market: Celebration!

Join us for “OUR MARKET, OUR STORIES” a celebration of community and resilience in the 9th Street Market. This event showcases the vibrant public art project created and led by local artist Michelle Angela Ortiz’s Fiera Studios in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia. Since its inception in 2019, Our Market has worked to uplift (im)migrant vendors, business owners, and neighbors who call the 9th Street Market home. The project addresses issues of gentrification, racism, displacement, and erasure through creative community strategies.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, experience the full impact of this multi-layered project. The event will feature murals, select awnings with artwork, new lightboxes, and the launch of the interactive tour app created through Our Market, along with participation from vendors and performances that highlight the ongoing work and culture of the market.

Attendees will enjoy food from local vendors in the Market, performances, and a screening of a 10-minute video capturing the growth of the project and the people behind it. This celebration is made possible with lead support provided by the William Penn Foundation with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts, PHILADELPHIA250, and the Leeway Foundation. Join us for an evening of art, culture, and community in the heart of the 9th Street Market!
