Paint Day: Remembering a Forgotten Hero

Help us paint a new mural, designed by artists Willis Humphrey and Keir Johnston, celebrating early civil rights activist Octavius V. Catto. An educator, athlete, and activist, Catto pushed for voting rights for Philadelphia’s black citizens in the late 1800s. Remembering a Forgotten Hero is the first mural to honor Catto, with a design that will elevate and reflect on the complexity of our history.

Join Mural Arts staff, youth from local public schools, and members of our Guild program in City Hall Courtyard to paint the parachute cloth that will go up on the wall! Be part of this historic mural, no matter your skill level.
