Reimagining Reentry: On Mentorship

How does the experience of incarceration affect artists and their work? And what role does mentorship hold, both inside and outside prison walls?

Mural Arts’ Reimagining Reentry Fellowships continue with a conversation between artist, mentor, and Reimagining Reentry Fellow Russell Craig and artist James “Yaya” Hough, who is also a recently-returned former juvenile lifer. Craig is currently at work on a mural featuring Hough, his longtime mentor during his incarceration at SCI Graterford. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Nicole R. Fleetwood, director of the Institute for Research on Women and an associate professor of American Studies at Rutgers University.

Doors at 6 p.m. for a light reception; conversation begins at 6:30 p.m.
