Dreams

Dreams by artist co-designed by Robert Minervini and Phillip Adams, and painted by Phillip Adams is located on the exterior of the Martin Luther King High School in the East Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural begins with a a poem from Langston Hughs “Hold fast to dreams. For if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird, that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams. For when dreams go life is a barren field frozen with snow.” From the quote a flock of winged birds move a viewers eyes across the walls to the next main portion of the mural a vast golden field ripe for harvest. Planted with the seeds of dreams this field represents the end of the poem, showing what can be wrought when dreams are kept alive and allowed to grow. The project was done in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Corps art education students.
