Honey’s Garden

Honey’s Garden by Frank Hyder and Henry Bermudez is located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. Garden plants (tomatoes, eggplant, grapes, berries), mixed with images of the sun, birds, and the hand of man, are painted in a rhythmic dance as seen from the view of a child’s eye. The artists say of their work: “We are committed to the relationship between man and nature. The magic we find in the world around us is visible testimony. The sun’s warmth and sweetness of its affects are the essence of life.”

Artists worked with Big Picture students from the Kensington Culinary Academy, the Lighthouse, McKinley Elementary School, 48th & Woodland, Shaw Middle School and Heavenly Hall with the support of their instructors to conduct workshops where the students painted different aspects of the mural.

The mural is located at Honey’s Restaurant in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. One wall of the mural is obscured by new construction as of 2024.
