Tunnel Vision: A Journey Through Color

Tunnel Vision: A Journey Through Color by artist Brad Carney was designed to brighten up the dark walls in this railroad underpass tunnel that were constantly covered with graffiti. The mural was requested by City Councilman Allan Domb to lighten up a dark, dirty throughway that connects the Kensington/Port Richmond neighborhoods in Philadelphia.
Carney played off the natural surroundings within the existing architecture to create a playful design that is vibrant and fun. The two walls are the same design, starting from opposite ends of the tunnel. Abstract leaf patterns weave in and out of the solid and striped colored areas. Dotted lines interact between these areas connecting the composition and taking the viewer, walking or driving, on a “Journey Through Color.”
