Finding Home

Finding Home by Josh Sarantitis and Kathryn Pannepacker brought together community members who have experienced homelessness with Project HOME, an organization that provides a variety of essential resources to people in recovery and in transition, including housing, employment, education and healthcare, to raise awareness and break down the stigma of homelessness. Art workshops provided the homeless community the opportunity to learn simple weaving techniques and to create scarves and other woven products as practice for creating the textile mural. Finding Home is the first large-scale textile installation whose goal was to engage through dialogue and art collaboration those of us who are fortunate to have shelter and those of us who are without.
Participating Community Partners: Project HOME, the Lehigh Avenue Men’s Shelter, Horizon House, 1715 Montgomery Avenue Women’s Shelter, and the Arch Street Café.
