NO SLAVERY. NO EXCEPTIONS.

The 13th Amendment abolished slavery except for those convicted of a crime. NO SLAVERY. NO EXCEPTIONS reflects on this complicated history and present struggle for liberation. The mural’s dedication was part of the African American Museum in Philadelphia’s (AAMP) “Rhythms of Liberation from Juneteenth to Beyond” music series. The mural was designed by Ernel Martinez was created in partnership with Worth Rises, an advocacy organization dedicated to dismantling the prison industrial complex, and AAMP.
