George Woods – The Man With The Plan

George Woods – The Man With The Plan by artist William Freeman was located in the Wister neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural is a memorial to George Woods a popular radio personality in the Philadelphia area. He was known for stopping his music broadcasts to talk about the Civil Rights movement and for playing music by at the time up and coming artists like The Temptations and Stevie Wonder. Just a few months before the completion of this mural the City of Philadelphia proclaimed May 14th “Georgie Woods Day” in honor of the broadcast legend.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced with new mural in 2012).
