Windows of Peace

In 2004, ArtWell, The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, Al Aqsa Islamic Academy, La Salle Academy, Moffett Elementary School, and many neighbors and volunteers from all over the city came together to create a large-scale mosaic and mural, Doorways to Peace.

In 2016, the original art was been refurbished and an additional work, Windows of Peace graces the walls of Al Aqsa. Led by artist Parris Stancell, the project also included poetry and tile-making workshops led by Joe Brenman, Cathy Cohen, and ArtWell teaching artists Jessica Eldredge, Clinton Graybill, and Jesse White. Neighbors and friends created beautiful imagery together, deepening citywide connections, and tapping into the power of art to open doors to strengthened relationships and understanding.
