Loving Memories

Loving Memories is a memorial to a family (a mother, Keisha Williams, and her three children, Keirra Williams, Joseph Reed and Terrence Moore) who were on the corner selling vegetables and fruits for a church fundraiser promoting healthy eating in this neighborhood. A carjacked vehicle ran out of control in the spring of 2014 and hit all four individuals, resulting in their deaths from their injuries. In addition, a young man, Michael Williams (no relation) was murdered getting off the bus on this corner. Community members requested that the land and corner be a tribute. Mural Arts worked with Youth for Change and Education Works, alongside family members and Youth Violence Reduction Partnership Guild members, to create this 22-panel mural along the fence. The background is filled with color, flowers, and graphics along with the line: “ Love is timeless, It’s the memory of yesterday and the promise of tomorrow.”
