X-Wave (Stairs)

“The colors waves are meant to create a visual energy that translates into a physical energy in the viewer. I chose colors that where in the immediate surroundings of the stairs. Red and pink = the building’s bricks. Green = the tint and framing of the windows. Black = the railings and asphalt. Yellow = the parking poles. Blue = the sky. Other wave patterns that I use in my wave series besides the x-wave are the diamond wave, the spotch wave, up wave and others.”
Since 2016, Spring Arts is an annual installation of temporary and permanent artworks in collaboration with Arts + Crafts Holdings. Artists are invited annually to experiment, create, and innovate old building walls between 10th and 11th, Spring Garden and Hamilton Streets to rebrand the neighborhood. Artworks are exhibited on a revolving basis, providing a diverse range of artists with the opportunity to create engaging public art.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (painted out/replaced with new mural in 2017). Mural was installed on the building’s rear stairs.
