Our Philadelphia

Our Philadelphia by artist David Serotkin is located in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our Philadelphia was designed with the participation of students from the Community Council anti-truancy program. The mural represents students and their artwork. Thirteen figures gather on a corner reflecting Lancaster Avenue and the surrounding architecture. The title has been worked into the design to appear as part of the background. Sadly, one of the students who worked on this project – Kyree Cohen, a 17 year-old ninth grader at Overbrook High School – was killed as a result of gun violence on April 6, 2004. The project was subsequently dedicated to his memory.
