The Always Present Curative Force

The Always Present Curative Force by Cesar Viveros and Pedro Ospina is located at the Mario de los Dantos health Center in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.The mural joins the Hispanic and Latino American communities served by the Mario de los Santos Health Center (a component of Delaware Valley Community Health, Inc.) with residents of Fisher’s Lane, a facility that serves 17-24 year old men and women diagnosed with mental illness, to begin a profound dialogue on de-stigmatizing mental illness. Feelings of isolation, shame, and resentment were explored in order to combat the silence within the stigma. ESKOT Entertainment, a multicultural cast of writing and acting professionals, helped facilitate dialogue among the participants to integrate their views and concerns into the mural design.
