The Butterfly Effect

Community and Guild members worked with artists to help shape the appearance of Hancock Recreation Center. The Butterfly Effect is a mural by Cesar Viveros on the exterior walls of the Hancock Recreation Center. The design incorporates the existing tiles already covering some sections of the building, respecting the original architecture. Benches echoing the theme were crafted by Brad Carney and Jose Diaz with Guild members for the adjacent playground. The creation of the benches supported the growth of new skills for re-entry workers through the physical act of rebuilding and collective work. More seating also provides greater opportunities for community dialogue.
