Peaceable Kingdom

Peaceable Kingdom by artist Charles Hankin is located in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural is based on Quaker artist Edward Hick’s work that was on display in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. The mural depicts the animals of Hick’s Peaceable Kingdom, Edward Hick’s himself, and Lucretia Mott, a Quaker woman who assisted escaping slaves and became and international spokesperson for Abolition, and Elias Hicks. The purpose of the mural was to bring a peaceful vision to the community that is working to clean up and pull together.
