Here to Create

Rasual Butler “Here to Create” Courts by artist Taqiy Muhammad and Calo Rosa is a ground mural located at the Chew Recreation Center basketball courts in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural honors Rasual Butler, an NBA player who grew up nearby. The colors in the mural represent the various teams he played for during his career, superimposed with a portrait of Butler dunking.

Butler, who was born Felix Rasual Cheeseborough, grew up in Point Breeze, not far from Chew Playground. The courts have been renamed “The Rasual Butler Basketball Courts” in his honor.

The artist described the work in an artist statement:

“My portrayal and dedication of Rasual Butler on this court are the Team colors that he has played on in his NBA career a collection of Energetic experience each individual will feel once stepping onto this court. It’s about understanding the Greatness and Power of his Legacy with beauty we were able to give these courts a vibrant transformation, and the power of purpose in his honor. In the words of Rasual Butler: “All you can do is try if they don’t get the picture pun intended we gotta slide! The energy is off cuz they just not part of Of ya tribe so it’s effecting the “ViBE” Bopspeare Bars Lol”
