La Chinesca

The La Chinesca restaurant borrows inspiration from the city of Mexicali in Mexico, but more specifically, the Chinatown neighborhood commonly called La Chinesca for which the restaurant’s name pays respect. Showcasing the unique mix and melding of cultures, a one-of-a-kind identity formed from Chinese immigrants settling in Mexico’s Northern Baja region, alongside California’s influences just across the border, and the addition of the vibrant Chinese American culture too.

La Chinesca’s Owners, Michael and Jeniphur Pasquarello, partnered with Mural Arts to create this mural on its south and west-facing facades. Philadelphia-based graffiti artists Busta, Imse and Saoka collaborated on a unique piece, merging their original styles and celebrating the vibrance of the restaurant’s food and decor.
