Scenes from Fishtown

Scenes of Fishtown by artist Eric Okdeh is located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located on the side of the Interstate Draft House, a local business, the image depicts fish native to the nearby Delaware River. Okdeh depicted the scene in a realistic manner, with the viewer able to see in above the water at the same time. As a twist, the artist also incorporates scenes from daily life in Fishtown. The mural design is divided in half, depicting life above and below the waterline. A boy in the middle reaches down to interact with the water scene. The mural’s theme draws on underwater themes found on the adjacent recreation center.
