The Steppers

The Steppers by artist Cavin Jones is located in Northwest Philadelphia. Featuring a background of a church that once stood on the lot across from the mural Jones has painted, the figures populating its upper and lower registers participate in activities sponsored by the local community center. Among these activities are gardening, writing workshops, care for elderly community members and participating in a drill team. The activity the mural gets its title from for the precise and choreographed steps the participants take during a performance.
