El Piraguero

El Piraguero by artist Danny Torres is located in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Celebrating the Puerto Rician culture many of the residents of the neighborhood share, this mural shows a typical street scene in Puerto Rico. A shaved ice or snow cone man (El Piraguero) strolls the streets with his small cart selling snow cones (El Piragua). This mural reflects the communities desire to see their cultural roots represented visually not only through restaurants and businesses, but also in the art they see every day.
