Danny Simmons Mural Dedication

Join Mural Arts for the dedication of a new mural, The Seeker, by celebrated poet and visual artist Danny Simmons. The mural represents the quest to bring thought-provoking art to our communities.

Created on the home of a family rebounding from a series of tragic events, the mural offers hope and positivity. Simmons has woven words of encouragement from his longtime collaborator, Rev. Run of the groundbreaking rap group Run-DMC, into the mural: “Art not only ignites the imagination of our children, art, and artists can strengthen and transform our communities.”

Three decades ago, Danny Simmons, his brother Russell, and Joey (Rev. Run) established Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation with the mission to spark the creativity of young people and provide opportunities to emerging artists. This mural is an extension of that mission.
