Curriculum Developer

Date Posted - May 5, 2025

The Mural Arts Program is seeking a Curriculum Developer for the Porch Light Department. Porch Light, a collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS), works closely with communities to uplift public art as an expression of community resilience and a vehicle of personal and community healing. Porch Light creates murals and programs that focus specifically on mental health, trauma, and substance use. The Porch Light Department emphasizes work that is rooted in community engagement, uplifting voices of the most vulnerable, and treating every person on staff and in our programs with the same value. The Curriculum Developer must be able to navigate working in multiple settings with respect and humility, as Porch Light works in non-English dominant spaces, queer spaces, with those who are housing insecure, those in the midst of substance use disorder and those diagnosed with mental health disorders.

The Curriculum Developer is a contract position through June 30th, 2025, with Mural Arts’ Color Me Back (CMB) program, a same-day work and pay program which provides a low-barrier art-based work experience for housing and/or economically insecure individuals across Philadelphia. This position will be responsible for working closely with the CMB Program Managers and the Porch Light Program Director to develop and implement a curriculum for the Second Step Pilot Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the CMB Program Managers and the Porch Light Program Director to develop a written curriculum that reflects the needs expressed by the CMB program staff and participants by Monday, June 30, 2025

  • Communication with the full range of stakeholders, including CMB program staff, participants, site partners, funders, and more
  • Partnership development in line with the services/resources in demand
  • Engaging with the program and navigating interests, concerns, and needs
  • Planning and implementation of project-specific planning meetings
  • Regular meetings with the Senior Program Manager and other Porch Light staff

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience in workforce development, with a preference for additional experience in program coordination, development, and/or implementation.

They should be able to juggle many tasks and maintain focus in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Ability to reorder priorities, delegate, and multi-task – with ease and grace – is a must.

The program coordinator must also be able to work well with many different kinds of people in diverse settings, have a commitment to social justice issues and have experience in conducting public presentations and moderating public conversations. Commitment to the mission and values of the Mural Arts Program, a solid work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, political savvy, and a respect for teamwork are critical to success in this position. The candidate should have an interest in mental and behavioral health.
