Ridge on the Rise

Ridge on the Rise by artists Paul Santoleri and Beth Clevenstine is a stained glass mosaic mural located in Philadelphia’s Sharswood neighborhood. It was created to eplace a wall mural/mosaic that had been part of the community for many years. It was made using the technique of applying stained glass mosaic to a concrete composite tile backerboard and then mounted into place. The idea for the piece was to give a sense of the upward movement of an area that has challenges of blight and neglect in the past and to represent that area in both a positive light and with attractive and long-lasting material. The materials and technique echo those used in the completion of the previous mural.
