Desireé Bender draws inspiration from building partnerships between Philadelphia neighborhoods and non-profit arts organizations for both large and small-scale mural projects. She has spent the last 8 years working outside the classroom in communities with arts non-profits and teaching in the Philadelphia K-12 public school classroom. Desireé’s artistic interest in her studio practice informs and inspires the development of engaging lessons for her students. Her interior and exterior installation work are part of an ongoing narrative—an evolving mythology about the nuisances of motherhood.
