A City Without Old Buildings

A City Without Old Buildings by artist Henry Martin was located in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural depicted a fantasy urban landscape. It included buildings that were at the time of painting or previously located around the wall. It was created in partnership with the University City District. An organization responsible for the upkeep and development of the neighborhood.

The imagery speaks to the theme of urban regeneration and the history that is often lost in the process.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced by “Tuskegee Airmen” mural in 2008).
