Advocates for Advocacy

Advocates for Advocacy by artist Brett Cook-Dizney is located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This project encouraged participants to voice their active support for positive aspects in their neighborhood. The creation of this project was an opportunity to express their beliefs and advocate for causes, ideas, or policies that exist in their community for their individual enlightenment. Digital photos were taken of the students and members of the neighborhood who came to meetings about the mural design. Quotes from each member were collected along with the photos. The photos were then digitally transferred to non-woven media and included above their portraits. Students painted the portraits in the studio then adhered them to the wall to create the mural.
