All Is Not Forgotten: James Gibson

All is Not Forgotten: James Gibson by artist Peter Pagast was located in the Norris Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A tribute and memorial to James “Gib” or “Froggy” Gibson. A roofer by trade he lived for years off of Bodine street where he swept the streets clean of everything that could negatively impact the kids and families living in the area. Giving older kids jobs around the neighborhood to keep them from selling or doing drugs. He ran makeshift a community center from the back of his red pickup as he took kids to do activities on the weekends. Tragedy struck in 1997 with Gibson was killed in a car accident at the age of 45. This mural in his old neighborhood stood as a testament to the impact he had on the people there.
The images of the mural presented here were taken in 2019, before it was replaced by a new mural in 2020.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced in 2020 by Future Histories).
