Baptism

Baptism by artist Cavin Jones was located in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Linda Hudson, the President of the Parkside Association of Philadelphia when the mural was created, said about the work: “The mural shows people being baptized in the river, as we Baptists used to be. We, an African-American community–have our roots in the church. And we need to get back to that . . . We chose this image because we want to uplift our men and depict them in a positive state. Our men are an inspiration to us. We appreciate what they give back to the community.”
