Birds, Bees, Flowers, and Trees

Birds, Bees, Flowers, and Trees by artist Anna Uribe is located in the Ludlow neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural was painted in conjunction with the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s children’s program, the Delphi Art Club. Uribe worked with participants at the museum to create a mural that celebrated insects. Youth created the tiles with their own renditions of bugs, butterflies, and birds that border the mural. Uribe also engaged with community during the creation of this mural, involving parents, children and teachers in the final design. Neighborhood residents were captivated by the painting and found mural to be healing for them spiritually.
Students from the following Philadelphia public schools created tiles for the mural: John B. Stetson, Mayer Sulzberger, Charles Richard Drew, Edwin Vare, James Ludlow and John Wanamaker Middle Schools.
