Blooming Futures

Blooming Futures by artist Athena Scott is located at the Andrew Hamilton School in West Philadelphia. Mural Arts Philadelphia partnered with ABC and Disney Television Studios to create a mural at the Andrew Hamilton School inspired by the hit TV show Abbott Elementary. Spearheaded by the show’s star and creator, Quinta Brunson, this project highlights the allegory of the school as a garden, with tenacious educators and staff serving as stewards of a flourishing student population. Local artist Athena Scott rendered larger-than-life images of school students and staff as a loving tribute to the Hamilton community. The quotes featured in the mural are attributed to Nelson Mandela and James Baldwin, respectively. As an Andrew Hamilton alum, Brunson attended the mural dedication and received a key to the City of Philadelphia presented by Mayor Cherelle Parker.

Location Note: Mural faces the school’s playground and is visible from Pine Street.
