Born Again

Born Again by artist Cliff Eubanks is located in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural is a majestic vision of a contemporary mother and child within a frame of religious images painted to resemble stained-glass windows based on the life of Christ. The contrast of the familiar human scene, one that is both ordinary and iconic, with the spiritually charged events in the surrounding frames is characteristic of the art of the Renaissance.

The title Born Again suggests, first, the expectation of Christian resurrection; second, the possibility of renewal and rebuilding for the community and its residents; and third, the opportunities that are born anew with each generation.

The mural was restored in 2006.
