Boy With Raised Arm

Boy With Upraised Arm by artist Kien Nguyen, originally designed by Sidney Goodman, is painted on an exterior wall of Strawberry Mansion High School located in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A collaboration with the the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Corps art education department, this mural features a boy with an upraised arm. Based off a 1990 West Philadelphia mural painted by resident and internationally acclaimed figure-artist Sidney Goodman this mural is one of a few around the city that depict a boy with an upraised arm. A symbol of power and solidarity the image is paired with a line of text which reads: “Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”
