Caribbean Sunrise

Caribbean Sunrise by artist Ana Uribe was located in the Norris Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural was a companion mural to Tropical Landscape with Waterfall (still on view as of 2023) and The Palm Tree by the same artist which were located nearby. Like its companion pieces this mural was intended to touch on the hearts and minds of the Puerto Rican people and inspire a sense of nostalgia for their homeland. As a result of painting three murals within the same area, Uribe became somewhat of a local celebrity. She was proud that children in the neighborhood call her by her first name and people honked their horns as they drove by her painting.

The mural was restored in 2008.
