Cedar Park

Cedar Park by artist Karl Yoder is located in the Cedar Park neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural is painted on the side of the building that houses the Cedar Park unit of Resources for Human Development. It interweaves themes central to the surrounding West Philadelphia neighborhood: family, community gardening, and Friday night jazz at the Firehouse Farmers Market. Surrounded on three sides by mosaic tiles, this mural features two musicians playing a trumpet and drum while a mother with two children look on. The mother looks at the musicians while the children look down with. In the background, the row houses so ubiquitous in Philadelphia extend into the horizon while a large tree ties the foreground and background together.
The tiles included in this project were created by students in the Delphi After School Program at the Philadelphia Museum of art. Students were from Philadelphia public schools including Ludlow, Wagner, Turner, Drew, Sulzberger, and Lea.
