Chalfont Playground murals

These murals (titles unknown) were located at the Chalfont Playground (now the Corporal Jimmy O’Connor Memorial Recreation Center) in the Millbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mural at the center presents the name of the playground, Chalfont, whose letters are created by people and objects involved in activities that happen. To one side appears an abstracted landscape by artist Jason Slowik. In contrast to the playful work at the rec center’s entrance, the landscape presents a a series of dark blue fields cut through by the orange of a setting sun. Slender trees with four branches each pepper an otherworldly landscape, providing an imaginative background for the playground.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (replaced with new mural in 2023).
