Common Ground

Common Ground by artist Josh Sarantitis was located in the Grays Ferry neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located on a community builiding, the mural featured photorealistic portraits of community members against large letters spelling out the title of the mural in the background. This mural reminds viewers that they are on common ground with the neighborhood and with everyone else in the city. While there may be differences in culture, practice, philosophy, or morals, there is always something to be found that can unite people. Sometimes its just seeing a beautiful work of art as you walk along the street.

This was the artist’s first commission for Mural Arts Philadelphia.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (lost to demolition ca. 2017).
