Cultivate Respect

Barbara Smolen’s Cultivate Respect was dedicated during Love Your Park Week in 2018. Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, the Philadelphia Water Department, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and Mural Arts Philadelphia gathered on the basketball courts at Wissinoming Park to dedicate and celebrate recent park improvement projects. Renovations included a new playground and sprayground, stormwater management, ADA accessibility improvements, and Smolen’s beautiful floral mural that is all about respecting one another. This mural was created in collaboration with the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia, and is the first in a series of projects celebrating civic dialogue. Community members participated in the completion of the mural during a paint day earlier in the summer.
