Dare to Understand

The Dare to Understand mural is dedicated in honor of S.A. Ibrahim, former CEO of Radian, a business leader whose personal story and visionary leadership reflect the values of a religiously diverse democracy.

The mural found its rightful home on the campus of the Aquinas Center, St. Thomas Catholic Church, and St. Thomas Aquinas Independence Mission School, a vibrant intercultural, multilingual community, serving folks from at least 14 different countries of origin.

This 20 x 60 foot mural by Jared Bader and Rashida Salam depicts faith, equality, and inclusion as a conversation between people of diverse faiths and cultures, including those impacted by acts of hate. The mural is located on the exterior back wall of the Aquinas Center at 1700 Fernon Street, which prides itself on serving as a hub for intercultural, intergenerational, and interfaith connections.

The project included a Mural Arts photo shoot which ensured that faces from the community were incorporated into the mural, reinforcing the idea that regardless of religion or belief tradition, every human deserves respect.
