Doo-Wop Diner
The group pictured on the right is “The Tymes,” a doo-wop group formed in Philadelphia in 1956. The original group was called “The Latineers” but the group changed its name to “The Tymes” in 1960 when they signed on a new lead vocalist named George Williams. The group was successful in the U.S. and the U.K. in the ‘60s and 70s. In the U.S., their most popular song was “So Much Love,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100). In the U.K. their most popular song was “Ms Grace.”
The image on the left is a 1980s photo of the doo-wop group Neighbor’s Complaint. They have been active in Philadelphia for over 30 years. Three of the five members are Navy Veterans.
