Doorway to Achievement

Doorway to Achievement by artist Jonathan Laidacker was located at the Alexander Wilson School at the boarder of the Cedar Park and West Shore neighborhoods of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural in its original state consisted of two parts. One part, a long mural, depicted students painting a mural, their own hand evident from the drawing to the light pastel colors chosen to fill in everything. The second part of the mural on a nearby doorway, took the activities of the students to the next level showing them on painted photographs engaging in scholastic activities. These painted photographs were accompanied by a large ornate wooden door, the door to achievement, open to all the students as a reminder that their hard work does not just impact themselves but also others who come next.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (lost to demolition in 2017).
