Dream Catcher

Dream Catcher by artist Lynn Denton is located on the west entrance to Potter-Thomas Elementary School in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. An abstract mosaic with motifs reminiscent of African art this mural frames the walkway into and entrance into the school. After walking up a ramp towards the doors into to the building past abstracted animals, musical instruments and fruit, the students walk under a stylized central figure wearing a mask and flanked by two trees. The mural motifs extend beyond the entrance along the side of the building creating a cohesive whole in both paint and mosaic.

Location Note: Portions of this mural have deteriorated and been painted over (2010-2012).
