Dreams, Diaspora, and Destiny

2017’s collaboration between artist Joshua Mays and DJ and producer King Britt continues with an augmented reality mural in West Philadelphia. These two cutting-edge thinkers are bringing a multimedia sight and sound installation to the heart of the Conestoga neighborhood, while synthesizing public and private school students in a conversation about the future of West Philadelphia.

Dreams, Diaspora, and Destiny integrates art and technology through image recognition and the sounds of an original score, based on community interviews and youth-created sounds. In collaboration with Blue Design, a free smartphone app helps viewers experience public art in ways they have never imagined—the MuralArtsAR app is now available in iTunes, and will soon be available for Android users.
